20 BATH TREATS FOR BETTER SLEEPS

Bath Treats for Better Sleeps

Happy Spring to you if you’re in the southern hemisphere…while over here further north, bath and candle season is upon us, so…

Last weekend I was thinking about the bath heroes I’ve loved most from the Beauty Shortlist (and Wellbeing) Awards over the years – as we know water is life, that’s where we started, and it can be a magical element for healing – and here are a few of the ones I can still recall the scent of (and where I was in some cases) that sprang to mind first.

Bath treats galore.

I’ve grouped the products according to their aromatherapeutic effect but some almost belong in two categories, maybe even three. Anyway, it’s a rough guide to one of life’s luxuries – like sleep.

If you are after an affordable treat or in for more of a splurge, these are all different, all wonderfully mind-clearing, anxiety-soothing, grounding, forest-y and/or uplifting!

Side note: for anyone going through an unusually stressful time/inability to sleep properly, I’d recommend as your first port of call Therapie’s Himalayan Bath Salts (with so many minerals and rest-promoting essential oils).

Or maybe apothecary-style soother Olverum (from a spa-inspired German “recipe” from the 1930s) – or one of the sleep & nerve relaxing bath salts from BetterYou, Micheline Arcier and Westlab.

The world is a ‘funny’ place right now, so look after yourself and let the warm scented water calm and empty your mind and rest and your body. Do more of what you love, with those you love, and let life’s simplest comforts and joys recharge you x

1. SWEET DREAMS / THE “HELP ME SLEEP”s

Tisserand (LOVE the Real Calm MoodFix Mist too, which is currently doubling up as a pillow spray here), ila Spa (vetiver, petitgrain), Therapie by Michelle Roques O-Neil, Olverum, Micheline Arcier Aromatherapy Bath & Shower Crystals (lavender, orange, sandalwood), Westlab’s SLEEP Salts, Kiss the Moon Dream Bedtime Bath Salts, BetterYou Magnesium Flakes

2. LUXURIOUS / INDULGENT / SENSUAL / RELAXING

Lola’s Apothecary (rose), REN Moroccan Rose, Bamford (jasmine, orange blossom, cedarwood)

3. GROUNDING / STRESS-MELTING / MIND-CLEARING/HERBAL

“A weekend in a winter chalet”

I love forests and the smell of pine and rosemary, both scents make me feel safe, grounded and like I’ve escaped to the Alps or a forest retreat in the UK for a few nights so these would be up there in my top 10.

Susanne Kaufmann (Mountain Pine)

Kneipp’s Goodbye Stress (Watermint and Rosemary)

Weleda Rosemary Invigorating Bath Milk – a modern classic to clear the tension and noise from your head at the end of a very cerebral day

4. GOOD ENERGY!

Weleda belongs here again, and Dr Hauschka’s Lemon Lemongrass Vitalising Bath Essence is literally sunshine in warm water!

And…

BOTTOM ROW:

Elemental Herbology’s range of bath and body oils for all 5 Elements are beautiful.

Pick the one your mind and body is asking you for…

Rejuvenation? Or Zest?
or Balance, Detox or Soothe?

“Sleep well!”

I am a Bath and Bed lover and have used a lot of these products which are so beautiful, my other favourite is Ilapothecary Magnesium and Amethyst Deep Relax Bath Salts – expensive treat but worth every penny, they smell so good! Or I have been known to buy some genuine magnesium, Epsom salts & Dead Sea salts and make my own. Trying to collect some pure essential oils and get some really good scents going!
