TRAVEL KIT OF THE MONTH – JANUARY: EMINENCE ORGANICS AGE CORRECTIVE STARTER SET

Eminence’s Age Corrective Starter Set landed in our office one December afternoon and it made its way to my bathroom rather quickly. I’d never tried their Age Corrective range before (our other Hungarian beauty love being Omorovicza) so it was “instant dive in!”

Four weeks later I’d happily recommend this set all around town (it’s £45 at The Skinsmith). Jessica Biel, Megan Fox and Madonna are among Eminence’s celebrity followers and maybe it’s the simple combination of efficacy, great textures/scents and energising plant power (including PhytoCellTec Swiss Green Apple Stem Technology) but I am totally hooked on two of the products in this 5-piece starter kit (see below!) but the other three are worthy of a mention, too.

Coconut water, chicory, tara tree, swiss green apple, bamboo, monoi, yam, coconut oil, carrot…£44

ABOUT EMINENCE

1. This 100% natural skincare line was established in Hungary in 1958 so its 60th anniversary is not far off.

2. Their products are 85-95% active (whereas many, even most, cosmetic formulations are 1-12% active) and they’re just packed with fruit enzymes, coconut, and delicious ingredients like rhubarb, cherry, mango, and passion fruit – in fact, apart from The Body Deli, Eminence is one of the most fruit-based skincare ranges I’ve come across.

3. A little goes a long way and they can also be diluted with water or herbal tea to suit individual skincare needs.

Eminence is certified organic by Hungarian body Biokontroll and Eminence actively run various green and charity initiatives like tree planting, using eco power on their ingredient farm, using recycled packaging and donating to a charity for kids with cancer – Boldijarre Koronczay, the brand’s President, survived childhood leukemia – he got through it, he says, thanks to the high intake of organic, nutritious food that helped turn his health around.

4. For every product sold, they plant a tree. (Yesss!!) In 19 developing countries, including Burundi, Tanzania and Ghana.

Haven’t tried Eminence’s cool eco-look lip glosses…have you?

The Coconut Age Corrective Moisturiser along with the Bamboo Firming Fluid are the two stars of the show for me, and the moisturiser in the Starter Kit comes in a tube, which is handy. This is an organic fest full of good things.  Coconut water, shea butter, vegetable glycerin, chicory root, grape seed oil, coconut oil, carrot extract, coenzyme Q10, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Swiss green apple cell culture extract, and coconut essence which gives it its beachy coconut-esque scent. It’s a light, white cream which feels comforting and refreshing and “skin-relaxing” – as if your skin’s just much more “elastic”. (For Normal/Dry skins)

I also really like the Bamboo Firming Fluid. The Natural Retinol Alternative Complex contains chicory root oligosaccharides and tara tree, to help smoothe out wrinkles and it smells like a cross between monoi and neroli – I love this scent! The texture’s got a very light coconut lotion/glycerin feel to it.

The other 3 products in this kit are:

The Monoi Age Corrective Exfoliating Cleanser (NO microbeads here – President Obama has just passed into law new legislation to ban them – plastic microbeads are an environmental hazard and – absurdly – totally unnecessary) which contains a lot of fruit enzymes and finely ground olive seed)

The Bamboo Age Corrective Masque

…and Neroli Age Corrective Eye Serum (super, super light if you’re not a fan of eye balms or thicker creams or slightly oily serums).

So I had to give this set a shout-out, five products for £45 works out at £9 each and the sizes range between 8ml (Neroli Eye Serum) up to 30ml (the Monoi Cleanser). That’s it! “Travel Kit Of The Month”. It’s lovely.

The coconut moisturiser is likely the best. Coconut oil is great for skin so considering, I’d wager it could do some real good.
