HAIR AND NOW: shine on, summer!

THE A-LIST SUPER DUO

Josh Rosebrook Deep Nourishing Shampoo & Conditioner

New to the UK and full of good things, Josh Rosebrook’s hair and skincare range has landed at A Beautiful World.

The Shampoo formula contains Sage, Oregano, Peppermint, Thyme, Lavender to energise hair, Coconut and Grape Seed to up its gloss factor, Rosemary, Horsetail and Burdock to help stimulate follicle cell regeneration and reduce hair thinning and loss. Meanwhile, Evening Primrose, Hemp Seed and Apricot oil’s mix of essential fatty acids soften and add shine while reducing frizz.

Josh’s tip (how to use the shampoo): Divide the scalp into four areas, top, sides and back then massage in before rinsing well.

Olivia Wilde and Alicia Silverstone are fans.

Available exclusively at A BEAUTIFUL WORLD in the UK in full and trial sizes from £5.50

THE NEW INGREDIENT SUPERSTAR: PRICKLY PEAR

Celebrity hairdresser Flavien Abbas (whose client list includes Marion Cotillard, Audrey Tautou and Charlotte Rampling) is ahead of the hair curve with his luxe hair treatments based on deeply nourishing prickly pear from Morocco.

Prickly pear (also called barbary fig or cactus seed) is quite a bit more expensive than argan and you need a huge crop of the fruit to produce an astonishingly small amount of oil.  Naturally rich in vitamin E, it’s a natural antioxidant, cell rejuvenating and anti-inflammatory, and it has a high moisture content. The Touché shampoos and conditioners are lightly scented with the natural fragrance of jasmine oil and the Multipurpose Oil Treatment was one of the winners in this year’s Beauty Shortlist Awards.

argan hair repair

THE ETHICAL ARGAN HAIR REPAIRER

Wild Wood Groves was one of the original argan brands, way back before that big “M” brand (which uses minimal argan in its formulas) and the others got onto the argan bandwagon.  Straight up, Wild Wood Groves one of the originals and still the best and what we love about this range is the sheer variety of blends, from pure argan and a lovely Baby Blend, to Mimosa and a Men’s Range, along with Lavender (Sophie Dahl’s favourite), Rose & Frankincense (Winner, Best Argan Product in our 2014 Awards).

WW’s Argan Hair Repair blends avocado, jojoba and nigella oil with herbs in a base of pure, fair-traded Moroccan argan oil.   Apply sparing to the hair as needed, or leave on for 30 mins in the sauna or overnight for a deep conditioning treatment.

“It takes roughly 35kg of fruit and two days’ labour to produce one litre of Argan oil for culinary use” – At The Kitchen Table

Wild Wood’s founder Ruth regularly visits the Essaouira/Agadir region where the argan is produced and there’s a really informative piece by her about precious argan on Sophie Dahl’s blog At The Kitchen Table HERE

Jetting off to a Moroccan beach soon? Try the 15ml travel size, it’ll last for ages and won’t hog your hand luggage.
