We’re celebrating ORGANIC SEPTEMBER, want to join us?

We’re celebrating Organic September with The Soil Association…will you join us?

Want to join us this September for our big British green celebration?

We’re supporting The Soil Association’s Organic Health & Beauty Weekend (7/8 Sept) and we’ll be focusing on natural and organic beauty – and health – all month long.

Small changes can make a big difference and as anyone who’s chopped up a big project into manageable smaller pieces knows, small consistent steps can lead to dramatically bigger results.

The fact is we all live on the same big planet but when future generations (humans as well as animals) are in danger because our (western style) modern lifestyles do not support sustainability (or rather threaten it!) our planet suddenly feels very small and very vulnerable.

“Organic farms support 50% more wildlife, with 30% more species”

The warning signs, from water and food shortages to the serious decline of bees, are there for us all to see and they’re alarming.  And the escalation in processed food-related obesity and related illnesses couldn’t be more ironic while way too many people in the world are starving.  The alarm bells are ringing, the signs are all around us and they’re not pretty. The reality is, we live on a fragile planet.  Sustainability and recycling are no longer optional – they’re key to our future quality of life and the life of everyone who shares this planet with us.

“If everyone makes a small change like switching to organic milk or choosing an organic moisturiser we can make a huge difference to our planet”

But… there’s lots we can do on a daily/weekly/monthly basis and it’s not difficult.

As Rob Sexton, chief executive of Soil Association Certification, says: “If everyone makes a small change like switching to organic milk or choosing an organic moisturiser we can make a huge difference to our planet. Organic farms support 50% more wildlife, with 30% more species – that’s more birds, bees, butterflies, beetles, bats and wildflowers. The average family eats enough bread in a year that if just 12 families make the small change to swap their bread to organic, an area of organic land a quarter of the size of Wembley Stadium football pitch would be a haven for wildlife.”

I believe the organic beauty space has never been more innovative, important or exciting – so why not help us support the ethical brands making green and gorgeous products, many of whom also “give back” to the community?

Did you know there are two types of beauty product (labelling):

  • A product that is over 95% organic
The Soil Association’s standards state that a product can only be called ‘organic’ in the product name where 95% of the ingredients (excluding water) are organic.
  • A product that is 70-95% organic
Some products require higher quantities of preservatives, etc. which reduces their organic content. Provided at least 70% of the ingredients (excluding water) are organic they can be certified with us. However, these products cannot include the word ‘organic’ in the product name, and must state the percentage of organic ingredients in the product description.
