BATHING BEAUTY’s MOUNT OLYMPUS FRESH LEMON & ROSEMARY BODY SCRUB

Bathing Beauty Body Scrub

Bathing Beauty founder George Jones used to model for Armani and Burberry but you’re more likely to find her in Cornwall or North Wales (where she lives and formulates her products) than Paris or Milan these days.

George’s “close to the source” natural bath and body collection is what “slow beauty” (and healing via nature) is all about.  Her cold-processed soaps take up to 5 weeks to cure and she doesn’t blend water or cheaper oils in with her products, so you won’t find see any preservatives, stabilisers or emulsifiers in the ingredients line-up – not even natural preservatives, in fact.

Bathing Beauty’s product range has grown “organically” in the deepest sense of the word.  As George says, “I start with a problem, then I research the ingredients I feel would bring the most relief to that condition. I wild harvest, grow or buy from fair trade producers, the ingredients I need, so this ensures the potency and purity of all the ingredients.”  This is definitely a brand to get to know if you have sensitive skin.

And if you love a refreshing body scrub, they don’t come zestier, more potent  – in a good way –  and more mouthwatering than Bathing Beauty’s “Mount Olympus” FRESH LEMON & ROSEMARY SEA SALT BODY SCRUB.  George uses fresh lemons and organically grown rosemary from her garden, ground with sea salt and she then drenches the mixture in a vitamin-packed blend of grapeseed and olive oils. The whole “potion” is infused with natural lemon and rosemary essential oils and lemon zest so it delivers a real aromatherapy hit!

It still feels too early to talk about Christmas in August even though the Christmas press days started last month, but if you’re a natural/organic beauty fan, we’ve tried a few of the products and can vouch for the fact that Bathing Beauty’s site is filled with potential stocking fillers.  They start from just £2.40 upwards, including facial oils and bath salts, from body infusions to effervescent foot reviving tablets (aka ‘Friday night long commute home feet saviours’).

BB’s Lemon & Rosemary Scrub has summer written all over it and it would make a really uplifting, skin-smoothing “bath tonic” for autumn’s crisper nights too – a reminder of the long warm summer we thought we’d never get, and let’s hope it lingers a lot longer.
