It’s a game-changer. The FOREO LUNA, new in at Selfridges

Mini_LINEUP_IMAGE

Sweden’s most innovative cleansing device looks set to take off big time and it has just launched at SELFRIDGES, hot on the heels of The Foreo LUNA mini launch at Harvey Nichols recently.  The LUNA mini quickly sold out at HN’s following its debut there, and I predict the original, larger size which is just-in at Selfridges will be a hot seller too. Why?

It’s not often I use the term “game-changer” but the Foreo LUNA sonic silicone facial cleanser really is one.  So what is it and why am I smitten with this silicone marvel?

The Foreo LUNA mini, £99 at Harvey Nichols (its real life size is approx 50% larger than in the pic)

But first big thanks to a woman who knows a good thing when she tries one – Laura Ward-Ongley at FabTips.co.uk. Laura reviewed the LUNA recently, I was intrigued, and I’m now officially hooked on my very own LUNA.  Swedish company Foreo have two LUNAS on the market – the LUNA mini, a travel size (above, available in various colours) and the larger, original LUNA which also has an extra anti-aging setting which is – breaking news – available from Selfridges HERE. Both do their jobs admirably.

I’ve never been a great fan of cleansing devices with bristles – ditto a lot of the more “sandblasting” type exfoliators – because I think they can be too much for skin, particularly if yours veers towards the sensitive side. That’s not to say they’re not good – they’re just not for me as a matter of choice.

And this is where the Foreo LUNA difference comes into play. Rather than cleansing with bristles, we’re talking tiny silicone nodules on a palm-of-hand sized large “pebble” shaped gadget, which buzz away to stimulate the skin. The Luna is a vibrating cleansing device that actually helps “activate” your cleanser by enabling your skin to absorb it better, plus it gets rid of old dead cells without “scouring” your face and it  feels good to use.  And I’m giving it extra points for a battery charge – one hour’s charge delivers 300 cleanses (no chronic dead electric toothbrush syndrome).

Up to 14,000 sonic pulsations per minute are sent beneath the skin when you apply the LUNA to your face which helps to effectively unclog dirt, oil or makeup residue from pores, stimulating the flow of blood and lymph, which in turn oxygenates and detoxifies the skin to boost a healthier-looking complexion.

But now for the game-changing bit – it has without a shadow of a doubt given my skin a more radiant, fresh, smoother more “glowy” look, all in under four days and I haven’t stopped using it since.

full size LUNA

The full size LUNA  (above – but the real life size is about 2.5 – 3 times larger) has literally just hit Selfridges,  £145, and better still, Selfridges stocks all four LUNAs which are designed to suit three different skin types plus there’s one for the men, too: Normal/sensitive (the pale pink one, above), combination skin, ultra-sensitive skin and a smart black LUNA for Men.

Now for the details, and how to use it:

  • Just 2 minutes’ using your LUNA™ morning and night leaves the skin looking naturally beautiful with a healthy-looking glow, while lessening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Simply apply your cleanser, wet the LUNA™ and turn it on. After cleansing your face, apply the reverse surface to wrinkle-prone areas in low-frequency mode.
  • The LUNA™  is fully rechargeable for up to 450 beauty treatments at a time. There’s no need for replacement brush heads and every device comes with a 2-Year Limited Warranty and a 10-Year Quality Guarantee.
  • Nonabrasive, rounded silicone touch-points glide across the face for ultra-gentle cleansing that gives you healthier-looking skin within just 3 days. 100% waterproof and nonporous, the silicone offers a more hygienic solution than standard fibrous brushes, with a variety of designs to suit every skin type!

The LUNA mini is available at Harvey Nichols, priced £99

You can find the large LUNA in different versions for ultra-sensitive, combination, normal/sensitive and Men – all are available at both Selfridges and Foreo.com  (£145). These are the original LUNAs with an anti-aging setting as well, hence the price difference compared to the LUNA mini.

I could not love the Luna more, for me there is pre-Luna and post-Luna and I’m a convert. The Swedes are clever inventors and the Luna is no exception.

The LUNA helps stimulate blood and lymph flow for a deep cleanse (a great cleansing device to look at if you’re not a bristle cleanser fan and find bristles too abrasive for your skin type)

    Hello!

Ive been wanting to try this device but have been going back and forth if i should get the sensitive normal or the combination. my skin is not problematic and even though i think its mostly normal, i do get the ocassion breakouts in my forehead plus tend to get a lot of blackheads in my nose and very tiny whiteheads in my chin i cant seem to get rid of. i also can get a little dry in my cheeks sometimes, which one would you recommend? is this blue one non abrasive and gentle enough to use everyday? because i really want something gentle enough every day that wont dry my skin with continuous use. i ask because i have seen reviews mostly on the pink and not so much the blue. would appreciate ur opinion thanks

I don’t think the Foreo will dry out your skin as that also depends on the cleanser you use with it – it sounds like you’d do well with the sensitive skin one too, although the blue one is for combination skin so I hear what you’re saying. I haven’t tried the blue one, might be a good idea to ask Foreo about this as they’re the ultimate gurus and hopefully can steer you one way or the other. I am still using and loving mine and I hope yours works for you too, whichever you decide to get! x

Think I’m going to get one! What cleanser would you recommend with it for someone with combination skin?

Which cleanser are you using already? We find Foreo Luna works even better with a cleanser than lathers and/or is slightly creamy…let us know!

I currently use Liz Earle which I like but I’d prefer something that’s rinse off (rather than needing a cloth). Thanks!

I have a feeling Nip + Fab’s Glycolic Fix Cleanser could be great for you, it’s slightly foamy, smells very fresh – gorgeous! – and it would suit combination skin, as it will help any prone-to-oily patches. You just have to rinse it off, no cloth.

The other two I personally swear by (but I have dry/normal skin although they’re technically created for all skin types) are:

Pai’s Camelia and Rose Cleanser for all skin types including combination would be great. It IS a “wash off with a muslin cloth” one however – like Liz Earle’s which by the way is a fantastic one, so good choice there!

Aurelia’s Miracle Cleanser is another stellar one (for all skin types) but again they use a bamboo cloth, however I think you could use the Foreo with the cleanser which would double up as the “exfoliating cloth” anyway, and rinse and pat dry.

Hope these ideas help – Nip &+ Fab are at Boots as well as on their site! I’ve used ALL of the above so I can vouch for them. Let me know if you have any other questions! Fi

I have mature skin that is beginning to look a bit drab and dull, I think the anti-aging Luna will perk it up a bit. I checked out Laura’s video – you can even use it under your eyes! Cool, this is going on my beauty wishlist.

Definitely worth trying the Luna! The travel size is great as well, so it’s not 100% necessary to buy the full size if cost is an issue.

What a find Fi – I have to try this! Love that it’s appropriate for more sensitive skins. Mine’s definitely getting more reactive with the years! Gem x

Gem, a friend emailed me tonight (19 Nov) to say she LOVES the Foreo Luna, much less abrasive than a Clarisonic (not that I have anything against those at ALL) but for sensitive skin the Luna is a godsend! It’s a lovely relaxing sort of ritual, too x
