Review by Samantha Hadadi

Every now and again, I stumble across a beauty brand that genuinely, changes my life. You know, the kind of company who make products which get me excited about removing make-up, who make my bedtime ritual a joy.

Well, welcome to Aurelia Probiotic Skincare, who have fast become one of the greatest loves in my life. British, natural, and ethically sourced, they are everything I search for in skincare, and more.

Although they only launched in January this year, Aurelia have already gathered something of a cult status, and have even made their way onto NET-A-PORTERs luxurious new beauty site. Founded by the genius Claire Vero (formerly of Glaxo-Smith Kline), who believes every day should start and end with luxurious, exquisite skincare.

The products themselves are based on probiotic technology, which I had never heard of in skincare before. Yes, we all know we should down our friendly Yakult with breakfast, but rubbing it on our faces? Nah!

Anyway, it seems that Aurelia’s probiotics work to balance stress-damaged skin and stabilise the skin’s defence system. Not only that, but they also support the skin’s own protection and repair mechanisms, helping to counteract premature skin ageing.

So, if you want to dip in to this gorgeous new brand, they currently have five products available – there’s the Miracle CleanserCell Revitalise Day MoisturiserCell Revitalise Night MoisturiserRevitalise and Glow Serum and the Cell Repair Night Oil. Their nifty bamboo muslin cloth is also the best I have ever used – beautifully soft, it is a pleasure to use.

Miracle Cleanser

I’ve been lucky enough to test each product and my favourite product has to be the MiracleCleanser, which smells like heaven on earth (think long, hot summers in the Mediterranean), thanks to its deliciously uplifting blend of rosemary, chamomile, bergamot and eucalyptus.

It’s a creamy, hot cloth-style cleanser, designed to be massaged onto skin and swept away with the muslin. Perfect for sensitive skin, it lifts away all make-up, buffs away dead cells (thanks to the muslin action) and promotes a wonderful dewy glow. After use, my skin is noticeably softer and brighter and, yes, the congested skin I sometimes get on my forehead has somehow, miraculously disappeared! Hurrah.

My second favourite product is the beautifully light Cell Revitalise Day Moisturiser which you can now find on beauty editor Kate Shapland’s personal “best of beauty edit”, MyShowcase (and home to a lot of Beauty Shortlist’s favourite brands).

The cream fuses probiotic and peptide technologies with plant and flower essences to hydrate and soothe dull skin, while also helping to prevent skin ageing.

Since it is so light, even on my combination-oily skin, it actually works as a brilliant make-up base and keeps my face fresh and hydrated all day long.  I adore every single one of Aurelia’s beauty treats and could see every product becoming a new beauty staple – it’s going to take a miracle to beat my new skincare regime.

I have been in love with the Miracle Cleanser for a few months, and I recently also tried the Cell Repair Night Oil, and I love the oil as well. Aurelia makes some of the best skincare products I have ever tried.
