2013 Awards Winner: SOPHYTO Purifying Silken Cleanser

What’s Butyrospermum parkii? Shea Butter, one of the best skin healing and anti-aging “nutrients” out there.
Sophyto is certified organic by the UK Soil Association, certified cruelty free by PETA and features products which are certified Vegan by the Vegan Society. All of Sophyto’s products are gluten free and their focus is very much on keeping skin’s PH levels balanced.
So here’s their Purifying Silken Cleanser with age-defying Honey Propolis, hydrating Desert Lily Aloe and Hazlenut Oil. Far from being oily, it feels a bit like a silky serum and there is no “honey stickiness” which personally I cannot stand – for some reason honey products are just not a favourite of mine.
Super easy to use, you massage it over face and neck, remove with a wet cotton pad or water, and here’s the clincher: it literally melts off eye make-up, too (with zero ‘sting’!) – even if you’re plastered in eye makeup. (You can just use it “neat” on a cotton pad and swipe off your waterproof mascara and eyeliner).
And if any men are reading, how about this? Its mild acidity helps keep bacteria at bay and regulates excessive sebum secretion which can be common due to ‘testosterone dominance’.
This tube of loveliness manages to be light, gentle, effective, purifying, conditioning and balancing all at once. It’s very good value at £13/100ml, considering so many luxury cleansers hover around the £20 upwards mark these days. Five well deserved stars and one for the shopping list. It’s my go-to cleanser and usually the one which makes it into my hand luggage – and it lasts for ages.
