JAMES READ BB GRADUAL TAN FOR FACE

James Read BB Gradual Tan for the Face (Medium) is second from left

Goodbye Digestive Biscuit smell and unpredictable self-tanner.  Hello James Read.

Meet the tan-of-the-future which has arrived early (and not a moment too soon either). It takes a tanning expert to create an expert self-tanning range and nobody knows more about perfecting a golden glow than James.

So, while the whole range looks good, we tested the BB Gradual Tan (Face). Press the end of the cylinder and out comes the tinted moisturiser/self-tanner through the brush (rather like YSL’s Perfect Touch Radiant Brush Foundation) so you can precision apply it all over the face.

AND (big and) there isn’t a trace of DHA (dihydroxyacetone). DHA darkens skin by reacting with amino acids in the skin’s surface.  DHA was a discovery made in the meat packing industry in the US in the late sixties, used for pre-packaged meats as it reacted with the protein to enhance the colour.  And if you hate that biscuity smell, DHA is the culprit.Furthermore the FDA (USA) states that DHA cannot be used around the eyes.

So, no DHA (great), and there’s also Hyaluronic Acid, anti-ageing Co-Enzyme Q10, Pro-Vitamin B, and cell-renewing Red Algae (nice) and a clever application technique (another tick).  James Read lists the ingredients on the website (thank you) and organic fans should note it’s not natural-  but it’s leagues ahead of most of the other self-tanners on the market. In a sentence, the BB Gradual Tan for the Face is the most innovative facial self-tanner we’ve come across. Finally, a non-DHA gradual tan that delivers perfect results.

You’ll find it at Harvey Nichols, QVC and Jamesreadtan.com
